Free SEO Tip- Choosing Keywords- The Lazy Man Way

Now we all know (at least by now) that keywords are important for search engines bots/spider!

Keywords are basically how the search engines choose what search engine queries to place your blog or site under! Choosing the right keyword sure helps bring in traffic!

Here is my lazy person way to choosing keywords for your blog or site!

Probably easiest way to know which keywords to target for is what already on your site!

No, No, No I am not referring to your content at all! I am referring to something that already been decided for you!

Your site's keywords have already been chosen for you by a third party and they did it for free! They probably know more about choosing keywords than the average person!

Did I confuse you? Okay what I mean is that "ads" that already on your site!
(I am assuming you have ads on your site nor am I suggesting that you put them on your site ..totally individual choice)!

Okay let me explain better and how I use the keywords from the advertisers!

(a) I have a blog

(b) I also have contextual ads on my blog (adsense etc)

(c) Every now and then..I check the title of the advertisements and see what keyword or keywords phrases are being used!

The "titles of the ads" are the keywords that the advertiser are paying for! So advertiser's (like Google) bots/spiders (ads bots are different than search/blog bots) have already decided what keywords to relate to your site/blog!

(d) So if the keywords that the "advertisers" have chosen aren't what I been targetting..well I change my keywords!

Okay there is a few basic exceptions to the above posting. Of course the obvious exception is that you have a ad-free site!

(1) Your blog is new! So the advertisement are more than likely PSA (public service ads).

(2) There are no advertisers bidding on your keywords that your blog/site based on!

site had only Charity ads (PSA Public Service Ads) when I first started!

Get More Traffic-Forums (1)

Here are some free suggestions to get more traffic to your forum! The more traffic the bigger that the forum becomes!

Add some "fun games" threads to your "Just Chatter" section! The more fun and the simpler the thread is...the better! Some threads get a lot of views and responses.

Here are some classic "fun" threads that I came across or started! Note you might have to join the forum to see the actual thread but on the plus side they are free to join forums!

(a) How much do you know about XXX? (interesting and attention getting title.)

(b) Grab The Nearest... (leaves a lot to the imagination)

(c) Are You Popular? (might appeal to their vanity and or competitive nature)

(d) Not bragging..Mine is Big..How Big is Your... (pretty self explanatory, great attention getting headline)

(e) Spell Your Name In Japanese (curiosity and informative.)

(f) (Your Forum) Word Game (pretty simple one word game)

(g) I Hate It When.. (a great way for members to vent thread)

(h)I Love It When.. (a way for members to share positive thoughts)

Directories To Submit Too..Freshly Updated! Again!

Since this is my most popular posting on this blog! I have added some more directories to submit too and special thanks to a recent comment, I have also double checked the sites listed! So a few parked pages are no longer getting link love! (Special Thanks and link given at bottom of this posting)!

In my previous posting (Directory submissions), I posted about how submitting to directories can help get traffic to your website/blog! In this posting, I will supply a list of the directories that I have submitted my blogs and websites too!

To add your site to the Open Directory, go to DMOZ, find the category that you site/blog should be listed in, and click the "Add URL" link at the top of the page. It is highly recommend that you read their submission guidelines first at guidelines
